What an excellent day for an exorcism.
SWIFF'23 celebrates the 50th Anniversary of William Friedkin’s 1973 masterpiece of horror, a film whose indelible legacy of terror has cemented its place in pop culture: The Exorcist.
Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), famous actress and mother to Regan (Linda Blair), a young girl possessed by a mysterious dark entity. As modern treatments fail, the frightening spiritual possession grows bolder and more dangerous, and, as a last resort, Chris is forced to enlist the help of Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) and Father Karras (Jason Miller) to save her daughter.
Making history as the first horror film to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, The Exorcist is revered to this day for its ground-breaking visual effects, visceral performances, and Friedkin’s dedication to authenticity that proliferates every frame.
