Ravensbrück concentration camp, Christmas Eve, 1944: A female inmate is ordered to sing Christmas carols, when a voice calls out “Sing something from Madame Butterfly!” Hauntingly, the singer chooses “Un bel di” — the ultimate expression of longing and hope. So begins the long-hidden, extraordinary love story of two prisoners from the Resistance: Nelly and Nadine.
For many years their love story was kept a secret, even to some of their closest family, now Nelly’s grandchild, Sylvie, has decided to open Nelly and Nadine’s unseen personal archives of letters, photos, and Super 8 films that she hasn’t dared look at for 20 years, and uncover a remarkable love story between two cultured women who found each other – and stayed together – against all odds.
In French, Spanish & Swedish with English subtitles
