Superbly performed and emotionally stirring, Cathy Brady’s debut is a masterclass study of two sisters – and a country – reckoning with a troubling past.
Kelly has returned – long missing and presumed dead – to a small, Northern Irish border town, landing on the doorstep of her sister Lauren. They share a deep bond, despite Kelly’s wild nature leaving Lauren, the sensible one, being left to pick up the pieces. Torn between love for her sister and long-repressed resentment, Lauren can either be swept away by the tornado of Kelly or return to the stable life she knows.
Echoing The Troubles and how the past impacts the present, this bold new film tackles a perspective often left out of discussions of historical trauma, deftly zooming in on the impact felt by two women living in the ‘post-conflict’ generation.
“Striking visually and heady with atmosphere.” – The Hollywood Reporter
