Tim Roth (Also at SWIFF'22 with Bergman Island) delivers an unnerving performance as the lackadaisical Neil, who when faced with a tough family obligation, attempts to abandon his life.

While vacationing in sunny Acapulco, wealthy Britons Neil, his sister Alice (Charlotte Gainsbourg), and her adult children bask in the lap of luxury. The relaxation is cut short, however when Alice receives a devastating call, prompting an early return. Under the guise of a “forgotten” passport, Neil abruptly leaves his family at the airport, checks in to a budget motel, drinks on the beach, and consorts with the locals, all the while ignoring his sister's increasingly desperate calls.

But how long can he keep up the act? Michel Franco’s (April’s Daughter, SWIFF’18) incisive study of class disparity and familial strife will leave you guessing to the very end.

In Spanish and English with English subtitles.
