To celebrate the launch of the SWIFF’21 festival program, the SWIFF Preview Gala provides film lovers first access to the SWIFF'21 line-up and printed program, including over 100 feature film screenings, exhibitions, performances, special events, and festival guests - while giving thanks to SWIFF's sponsors, who make the festival possible.

Join the SWIFF team on the night as we also toast the new Danish comedy, Another Round, from acclaimed director Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt, The Commune SWIFF’18), starring Mad Mikkelsen (The Hunt, Hannibal).

Vinterberg and Mikkelsen reunite after their masterful 2012 Oscar-nominated drama, The Hunt, to deliver an intoxicating and heartfelt comedy about a group of friends who embark on an audacious experiment: to see if a constant level of alcohol in their system will help them find greater freedom, creativity and happiness.

Martin (Mikkelsen) and his three friends, all teachers at various stages of middle age, are stuck in a rut. Unable to share their passions either at school or at home, they come across a theory from a Norwegian psychologist that constant modest inebriation could lead to an open mind and heighten productivity during the working week. With flasks at the ready, and with scientific rigor, the group decide to give it a shot. As the friends go about their school days, with heightened moments of clarity, the initial results are highly encouraging. But as they push for more of a challenge to their experiment, things get a bit more complicated and out of control.

Co-written with regular collaborator Tobias Lindholm (A War, SWIFF’17), Vinterberg uses this bold premise to explore the euphoria and pain of an unbridled life, with the ever surprising Mikkelsen delivering a touching, note-perfect performance – including one of his most memorable onscreen performances to date.

“Another Round makes for an appealing ensemble piece overall, as well as a great vehicle for Mikkelsen's vulpine beauty and nimble dance moves. For anyone who has ever craved seeing this former gymnast doing his finest Gene Kelly impersonation to pounding Europop, your dream movie has finally arrived” – The Hollywood Reporter
