Cut from a different creative cloth, British visionary Peter Strickland (The Duke of Burgundy, SWIFF ’16) delivers a screamingly funny, exquisitely tactile, deathly dark tale of a killer red dress.

Lonely heart bank-teller Sheila (Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Broadchurch) is divorced from her husband, distressed by her bosses (a delightful turn from British comedians Julian Barratt (Mighty Boosh) and Steve Oram) and disconnected from her son by his new girlfriend (Gwendoline Christie, HBO's Game of Thrones). So, when she steps into a fancy London store and is sold a glamorous artery-red frock from the witchy, otherworldly Mrs. Luckmoore (delectably played by Strickland regular Fatma Mohamed), it’s the ultimate caveat emptor for Sheila. Buyer beware.

Strickland’s trip into the world of killer fashion is a giddy, captivating delight. Wilfully weird and outrageous, In Fabric is an intoxicating experience that must be caught in a cinema in order to cast its surreal spell.

“One of the most stylistically ambitious and genuinely overwhelming movies in recent memory … Everything about In Fabric is excessive, and delightfully so.” – 4:3 Film
