“It was just a colour out of space—a frightful messenger from unformed realms of infinity beyond all Nature as we know it; from realms whose mere existence stuns the brain and numbs us with the black extra-cosmic gulfs it throws open before our frenzied eyes.” – H.P Lovecraft

Adapted from the legendary H.P Lovecraft’s beloved short story of the same name, Color Out of Space is the tale of the Gardner family, recently moved to idyllic New England to escape the hustle and bustle. Their picturesque rural lifestyle is threatened when an iridescent meteorite crashes into their property, seemingly melting into the landscape and infecting everything it touches. A terrific testament to Lovecraft’s fixation on the limits and endurance of the human mind, the insidious extra-terrestrial force starts to permeate the lives of the unassuming family.

In what may be his Cagey-est performance yet, the irreplaceable Nicholas Cage plays Nathan Gardner, the deliciously unhinged patriarch of the Gardner family. Under the direction of the notorious Hollywood shunned South African expat Richard Stanley (The Island of Dr. Moreau, Hardware) with his first feature film in two decades, Color Out of Space is packed with Lovecraftian creatures and cosmic infections galore – a fun, deliberately over-the-top wild ride.

“A ferocious, gorgeously-shot fever dream". - Birth Movies Death
